Level crossings and trams
A train cannot swerve and needs a very long distance to stop. That is why you must always clear the way for trains and trams.

Clear the way for trains and trams
You must clear the way for trains and trams, and stop if necessary. The exception is when the tram driver has to give way, as shown by a road sign.

When you cross the tracks
- Be particularly careful and adapt your speed so that you can stop before the crossing.
- Do not drive onto the crossing if a train is approaching, if the light signal shows red, if the sound signal can be heard or if the barrier is coming down, is down or is going up.
- Do not drive onto the crossing if you risk having to stop on it, for example because of a queue.
- Cross without unnecessary delay.

If the car gets stuck
If the car has come to a stop on a level crossing and cannot be moved immediately, you must get the passengers to safety and warn the train or tram driver.

Parking and overtaking
- You may not park less than 30 metres from a level crossing.
- You may not overtake just before or on a level crossing without barriers and traffic signals.
- Trams on the road are overtaken on the right and met on the right, unless the position of the rails means you need to keep to the left.
